Watch this video where Asia’h Epperson sings “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” at the Season 7 of American Idol competition. This song was originally sung by Whitney Houston.
The choice of song was questioned by many fans as pulling off something comparable to Whitney Houston was always going to be difficult. Doing this in the final 24 audition at the American Idol was in retrospect probably a wrong choice but hey we all love Asia’h Epperson and this just shows the amazing gumption she had going for a tough song.
Adding to the difficulty was the unfortunate illness that Asia’h picked up during the competition. Though Asiah denies this having any effect on her performance she did acknowledge that she was a bit rattled mentally as she was busy trying to keep her voice from getting affected.
Leading off the singers in the face off was another setback as viewers generally tend to not rank the first few singers in a long line up because they either miss the early part of the show or are more swayed by later performances because they tend to be fresh in their minds than the initial singer auditions.
Asia’h Epperson remains philosophical even in the end. She believes that she is destined for bigger and better things and that her Dad will always be watching over her and rooting for her. I for one totally agree which is why we have a complete website dedicated to Asia’h Epperson, pop star and singing sensation.
Asia’h Epperson talent was visible even as a child. Growing up in Joplin, Missourie Asia’h was really into choir at a very early age. She went on to be part of the honors choir for Southwest Missourie.
None of her former teachers were surprised to hear that Asia’h had made it to the top 24 in the American Idol competition. The competition itself completely took over the locals in Joplin. Literally everybody would tune in to watch American Idol to watch Asia’h Epperson perform. And perform she did.
After that emotion filled audtion in Atlanta on Feb 5th 2008, Asia’h had pretty much the entire Joplin community along with a vast majority of Americans rooting for her. As the American Idol top 24 cutoff approached, excitement reached fever pitch.
The locals in Joplin even organized a community party of sorts to bring people together to root for and support Asia’h Epperson. The show was scheduled to be beamed onto a Giant screen inside the Foundry which is the music venue at the Bridge.Asia’h Epperson did not disappoint. She went on to put in a flawless performance and before the night was out Asia’h was among the 12 male and 12 female singers who made the cut during Hollywood week. Next stop Hollywood. Go Asia’h Epperson Go, You rock girl.
Asia’h Epperson, a small town country girl by her own admission, wowed the audiences and the judges in her audition singing “How do I live” by LeAnn Rimes.
Asia’h lost her father to an accident two days before the audtion. Left with a difficult decision to make, she decided to go ahead with the audtion with the support of friends and family. The extraordinary courage she displayed by going ahead with the competition won her many fans. A visibly nervous Asia’h Eppserson sang a couple of lines from the popular song from LeAnn Rimes and though she did not complete the song came across as a very talented singer and one with a lot of potential.
All three judges, Simon, Paula and Randy all had very little hesitation is saying yes to Asia’h Epperson going into the next round of Season 7 of the American Idol competition. Paula was infact so moved by the courage and the emotion that was on display when Asia’h Epperson took to the stage and sang her heart out that she was moved to tears and had to leave the set to compose herself.
The attached video is the complete audtion. Watch, enjoy and applaud the spirit of Asiah Epperson.
Standing outside the audtion room was Ryan Seacrest waiting to interview Asia’h along with her immediate family. Replying to his question about what she would like to say to her dad, Asia’h Epperson simply said “We did it Dad”
